In March 2025, AZ Wound had the privilege of attending the 35th Conference of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) in Barcelona, Spain. This prestigious event, organized in collaboration with GNEAUPP – the Spanish Advisory Group for the Study of Pressure Ulcers and Chronic Wounds – and SEHER, the Spanish Wounds Society, brought together over 90 countries to share insights and advancements in wound care.
Breaking Frontiers in Advanced Wound Care Management
The conference theme, “Moving towards excellence in wound management by breaking frontiers and silos,” emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in wound care. With over 250 scientific sessions, the event covered a wide range of topics, including leg edema, pressure ulcers, prevention and treatment of post-operative complications in children and adults, nutrition, pain management, and much more.
Cold Plasma Therapy, The Latest Breakthrough In Wound Healing
A highlight of the conference was the introduction of cold plasma therapy, a cutting-edge technology showing promise in accelerating wound healing. Dr. Dhillon, attending his first international conference, was impressed by the potential of this therapy.
AZ Wound is proud to announce participation in upcoming clinical trials to bring cold plasma therapy to the United States, pending FDA approval.
Global Innovations and Perspectives
The conference provided invaluable insights into international wound care practices. It was enlightening to observe the variety of wound care products available in other countries, many of which are still awaiting FDA approval in the U.S. This exposure underscores the importance of global collaboration in advancing wound care standards.
