Dr. Yadwinder “Vinnie” Dhillon of AZ Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine, has been selected as faculty for the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) Fall 2026, taking place October 15–18 in Las Vegas. SAWC is one of the leading wound care conferences in the country, bringing together physicians, nurses, podiatrists, therapists, and researchers to share the latest evidence and practical strategies for healing complex wounds.
Dr. Dhillon will join colleagues from across the country in two sessions – one focused on compression therapy for leg ulcers and one on the role of slough identification in successful debridement.
What is SAWC Fall?
SAWC Fall is a national wound care meeting centered on practical, hands-on education. Its sessions translate research into real-world clinical strategies that directly improve patient care, and it includes a dedicated educational track from the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP). Clinicians from hospital wound centers, private practices, mobile wound programs, and post-acute care settings attend to sharpen their skills and stay current on evolving standards of care.

Leg Ulcer and Compression Day: Advancing the Science of Compression and Skin Health Thursday, October 15 | 1:30–3:30 PM
Dr. Dhillon will present alongside Frank Aviles, PT, CWS; Heather Barnhart, PT, PhD, CWS; and Lucian Vlad, MD, in this workshop on compression therapy – the standard of care for managing venous leg ulcers and phlebolymphedema. Topics include:
- Why compression therapy is often underused in clinical practice, and how to change that
- How venous disease and lymphedema affect skin integrity, and evidence-based ways to prevent skin damage
- The “Three C’s” of effective compression – consistency, continuity, and comfort – and how newer materials and techniques help patients stay with treatment
- The emerging “Fourth C,” Cutis, which looks at how therapeutic compression may improve skin microcirculation and long-term skin health beyond ulcer healing
Beyond the Surface: Why Slough Identification Is Key to Successful Debridement Saturday, October 17 | 11:45 AM–12:45 PM
Alongside Michael Desvigne, MD, and Daniel Gibson, PhD, Dr. Dhillon will examine slough – the layer of dead tissue that can form on a chronic wound and slow healing. The session covers what slough is made of, how it increases bacterial burden, how traditional and emerging debridement technologies compare, and evidence-based strategies for preparing a wound bed that’s ready to heal.

Dr. Dhillon brings two decades of experience in wound care and clinical research to the practice. As co-owner of Ethos CRO, a contract research organization, he has helped design and conduct clinical studies that advance the evidence base for wound care therapies, and he has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications – including a multicenter, randomized controlled trial on the treatment of venous leg ulcers. His dual role as clinician and investigator means new evidence reaches our patients’ treatment plans quickly and thoughtfully.
Who is Dr. Dhillon?
Dr. Dhillon is board certified in Family Medicine and serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he teaches medical students and residents in wound management and hyperbaric medicine. He has been recognized as a Phoenix Magazine Top Doc in wound care every year since 2018, the first year the magazine recognized wound care as a specialty.
