My interest in wound care began in nursing school when I had the opportunity to shadow the wound nurse at the facility. I got the wound care “bug” then and it has never left me. I have been in wound care for my entire nursing career and have had the opportunity to provide wound care at a variety of practices, including home health, skilled nursing facilities, and wound clinics.
I am a Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) and have also served as a WTA course coordinator and instructor through the WOCN, and am an approved preceptor through the Cleveland Clinic wound program. After years of providing this valuable care, I went on to obtain my Family Nurse Practitioner degree to utilize my acquired knowledge to assist my patients during this vulnerable time in their lives.
My approach is holistic, in that I believe in treating the whole patient. I provide compassionate care that considers every aspect of my patients’ lives. I had the opportunity in the past year to obtain my RN First Assist certification and spent time in general surgery. This experience has enriched my wound and ostomy knowledge and skills.
I enjoy having fun with my patients and colleagues — I love being a part of a team in the clinic environment and want to share my knowledge with those around me. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends on the lake or camping, and especially on race weekends!
