Marissa is a dedicated and passionate wound care clinician with nearly 11 years of experience in the field. After working in other areas of healthcare, Marissa began her wound care journey in 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado where she earned her Registered Medical Assistant certification. Her immersion into the wound care field led to a wealth of experience and education that initiated a passion for wound care and the surrounding healthcare areas she hadn’t previously known. She quickly knew this was the field her heart was most invested in.
Two years later, she moved back to her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, and continued her work in wound and ostomy care at Banner University outpatient wound clinic.
During her time at Banner University, she furthered her wound and ostomy education and skillset, working alongside numerous physicians, surgeons, and wound care RNs. It was here she first met Dr. Dhillon. She joined the AZ Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine team in the fall of 2023 to continue building her skills and expanding her education. While working at AZ Wound, she began her training on the administrative side of healthcare when she was promoted to lead Medical Assistant and lead trainer for Medical Assistants. She continued to build her education and leadership skills, which allowed her to transition into the Office Manager position at our North Phoenix location in May of 2025. Management and leadership are not easy changes from clinical work, but Marissa embraced the challenge and quickly showed Dr. Dhillon her capabilities.
In her free time, Marissa enjoys spending time with her children and mother as she finds family very important. Her hobbies include antiquing, arts & crafts and going to new or her favorite restaurants.
"I have worked in many other fields of medicine, but I truly feel that I am meant to work in wound care."
